Who must register and file?
If you are a sole owner, partner, corporation, or other organization that owns, operates, manages, and/or controls any hotel, motel, “bed and breakfast Inn” or other locations offering “sleeping rooms” for periods of less than 30 days in the City of Round Rock.
What is the Hotel Occupancy Tax?
Hotels, motels, and all Short-Term Rental properties are required to pay a 9% tax on monthly net receipts.
7% Hotel Occupancy Tax + 2% Venue Tax
When is the Hotel Occupancy Tax due?
Tax payments are due monthly no later than the last day of the month following the end of the prior reporting month. If there was no rental activity for the entire month, you are still required to submit the completed Hotel Occupancy Tax form.
What if filing due date falls on a weekend or holiday?
The due date will automatically be extended until the next business day.
How is penalty and interest calculated on late payments?
Penalties: A penalty of five percent (5%) of the tax due is imposed on payments that are between one (1) and thirty (30) days late. A penalty of ten percent (10%) of the tax due is imposed on payments that are between thirty-one (31) and sixty (60) days late. A penalty of fifteen percent (15%) is imposed on payments that are more than sixty-one (61) days late.
Interest: Ten percent (10%) Interest will begin to accrue from day sixty-one (61) until the tax is paid.
What is the fee for initial registration or annual renewal?
The initial application fee for annual registration is $35. The renewal application fee for annual registration is $25 due before January 1st of each calendar year.
What is a Short-Term Rental?
A Short-Term Rental is a dwelling that is used or designed to be used as temporary lodging.
Short- Term Rental is defined as:
a) Single-family dwelling, garage apartment, guest house or a unit in a multi-unit building, including an apartment, condominium, cooperative or timeshare.
b) Rented wholly or partly for a fee and for a period of less than thirty (30) consecutive days. The term "Short-Term Rental" does not include premises used for a nonresidential purpose, such as educational, health care, retail, restaurant, banquet space or event center purpose.
Does my short-term rental registration apply to multiple properties?
No, each Short-Term Rental property must be registered separately.
What if I do not register my Short-Term Rental?
Renting or advertising your home for rent on a short-term basis without registration in violation of the City of Round Rock Code of Ordinances and subject to enforcement processes as provided for in the City of Round Rock Code of Ordinances.
Can I manage multiple properties with one login?
Yes, click Add accounts from your user login under Manage Your Account(s). You will need your 6-digit Account Number and the GovOS Activation Code to connect to an existing property record.
Can a property have more than one user?
Yes, each property account can have unlimited number of users. Each user is required to provide the 6-digit Account Number and the Activation Code to be authorized to connect to an existing property record.
Is the City working with Airbnb?
No, Airbnb does not collect or remit Hotel Occupancy Tax or Venue Tax to the City of Round Rock on behalf of property owners and/or authorized agents.
Is the City working with Vrbo?
No, Vrbo does not collect or remit Hotel Occupancy Tax or Venue Tax to the City of Round Rock on behalf of property owners and/or authorized agents.
Can I pay by credit card?
Yes, the City of Round Rock assesses a 3% Convenience fee charged or $0.50 minimum on all credit card-based transactions.
Can I pay by e-check?
Yes, you can select your e-check during checkout. In doing so, you authorize your bank to send the payment electronically to the City of Round Rock. The City will not automatically draft money from your account, ever.
The City of Round Rock will assess a $1 fee per-transaction convenience fee on all e-check transactions.
Can I get a discount?
Yes, a 1% Administrative discount is automatically calculated on the 7% HOT Tax when reporting Total Taxable receipts under $25,000 when reported and paid timely.
Can I schedule a payment?
No, for your security, the system does not store any payment information. You will need to enter your desired payment information each time you check out.
Can I file a Zero tax return?
To file a Zero tax form, select your tax form from your Action Center. Then, complete the required information on the remittance, including Gross Rents and any deductions. You will be prompted to confirm your desire to complete the return as a Zero return.
How do I amend a return?
Tax form amendment requests are processed by the local jurisdiction upon request from the account holder. The GovOS support team is not authorized to amend returns.

How do I change the User on a Property?
All users need to register by going to the home page and click on the "Register Here!" button. They will also need the 6-digit account number and Activation Code for the property.
How do I close my account?
Per City of Round Rock's guidelines, a Closure form must be submitted for any account requesting an account closure, as GovOS Support is not directly authorized to close Round Rock accounts.
To complete your Closure Request form, please login to your account at https://roundrocktx.blt.govos.com/and navigate to the Manage Your Accounts section on the bottom left side of your Business Center/Action Center homepage. On the next page, you will click the link titled "Business Closure Form" to complete and submit your Business Closure form.
Once your Closure form has been submitted, the County will receive a notification to review your request for approval. Once approved, you will receive an email notifying you of the approval status for your closure.
If you should have additional questions regarding what information is required on your Closure form or should need to follow up on the status of your request approval once the form has been submitted, please contact City of Round Rock directly at OccupancyTax@roundrocktexas.gov.
I forgot my password. What do I do?
From the login page, click the "Forgot your password" link and follow the instructions that will be emailed to the User's registered email address.
Do I have to login to see my alerts and reminders?
No, all alerts are emailed to your authenticated email address. When you login to the system, you will also see any open alerts that need to be addressed in your Action Center.
I closed my business, how do I close my account?
Fill out a closure form. If you have any questions, please email OccupancyTax@roundrocktexas.gov
I did not receive, or I misplaced the letter with my activation code. What do I do?
Contact GovOS at blt.str.support@govos.com or by phone at 888.751.1911 for assistance. You will need to confirm account details to be verified for the account.
To protect the security on property accounts, you will need written (email) permission from a registered owner or officer of the property for us to provide you with a new activation code.
